Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the Catholic Church’s process of faith formation for adults who are interested in becoming Catholic, as well as baptized Christians who are seeking full communion with the Catholic Church or who have not yet received the Sacraments of Confirmation and the Holy Eucharist. Guided by the teachings of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), OCIA is a journey of conversion, prayer, study, and participation in the life of the Church.

Through Scripture, Catholic teaching, prayer, and the support of the parish community, participants come to know Jesus Christ more deeply and grow in their relationship with Him. For those who are called to continue the journey, OCIA culminates in the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation—Baptism (when needed), Confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist—at the Easter Vigil, as they are fully welcomed into the Catholic Church.
